Gary entered the industry in 1999 after completing his A Levels. He joined a five partner firm in Ashford as the junior member of the tax department. During his time there, he obtained good experience and understanding of tax compliance work, coupled together with him obtaining his Taxation Technician qualification in 2001.
After qualification, Gary moved to a larger practice in Maidstone, initially as Tax Senior, but then moving into the role of Tax Department Manager on the retirement of his predecessor in 2002. He remained in this role until 2007, developing the Department into providing more pro-active advice, which was assisted with him obtaining his Chartered Tax Adviser qualification in 2005.
Gary brings to the firm a vast knowledge of the tax system, and through his continued professional development, keeps himself up to date with the ever changing tax legislation.
He enjoys getting to know his client's businesses, which he sees as essential to provide tax advise tailored to their individual circumstances. In his previous role, he implemented a tax mitigation strategy for a large multi-national group of companies. This strategy was reviewed by the Inland Revenue and accepted, and ended up with the group saving in excess of £900,000. However, he also has vast experience with dealing with strategies for clients from sole traders to medium sized companies.
Gary is married with two children and resides in Ashford. He is a keen sportsman, and enjoys playing football for a local Sunday league team. He has recently taken up golf (although his handicap is 28, and does look like it will be reducing any time soon). He also enjoys watching motorsport, with Moto GP and Formula One his main favourites.
Having left school in 1996 after completing his A-level exams, Robert opted to join a local firm of accountants in Ashford to learn the trade as a junior member of the accounts team and gain his written qualifications at the same time. During this period he obtained a sound basis of accounting techniques and business strategy.
Robert qualified as an Accounting Technician in 1999 and moved to a larger, five partner accountancy firm in Ashford as an accounts senior, where he was exposed to a greater range of clients from sole traders to medium sized companies. This enabled him also to have more client contact and gain more knowledge of the client's business.
Moving to his third accountancy firm in 2003 in Maidstone as the Accounts Department Manager, Robert gained his qualification with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants in November 2004. He was still in this role until 2007 where he managed his own portfolio of clients including performing such duties as management reporting, budgeting, year-end accounts preparation and general business advice.
Robert brings to FSR Accountancy over ten years of experience in the accounting environment and has a vast knowledge of the accounting systems of a variety of different businesses ranging from sole traders, partnerships and companies with a varying range of turnover and profits. He is keen to be pro-active with his clients and forge a close working relationship with them.
Robert has recently moved to Maidstone having lived in Ashford all his life. He is a member of Ashford golf club and has recently joined the local gym, which takes up much of his spare time. He also enjoys travelling to exotic and far away places.
